Friday Finds, Invader Zim Style: GIR Robot

Invader Zim Complete Invasion DVD SetThe Nicktoons Network has surrendered to Invader Zim and has been re-airing the episodes. Every time one appears on my DIRECTV guide, I have no choice but to watch it unblinkingly. I even own the Invader Zim Complete Invasion DVD set, and yet I'm compelled to sit there and sing the Doom Song during commercials. It's a sickness, really.

My favorite character is, of course, GIR. C'mon, what nerd wouldn't adore a robot minion disguised as a day-glo green dog? He's just so insanely cute. GIR may even love food more than I. One of his best lines is "Hi floor! Make me a sammich!" The poor mechanical puppy even misses a cupcake after devouring it.

I am happy to report that I am not the only GIR fan on Etsy. Don't these handmade finds make you want to roll around on the floor? YAY!

  3. Gir is the best!! Once upon a time, I used to go to anime conventions (shhh! Don't tell anybody!) and I have a much-treasured photograph of me hugging a giant Gir. It was the best thing ever, and I don't know who could resist the little green guy!

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

Handmade Giveaway: Scarf from Elizabeth Koh

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Susana Silva for submitting the randomly-chosen 392nd entry. Normal people go to the beach in the summer, but I prefer autumn when it's more peaceful. The weather may be chilly, but that's why scarves come in handy! Not to mention that they're also a fun fashion accessory. One winner will get to choose any scarf under $40 from Elizabeth Koh to heat up an outfit. Elizabeth Koh is not one person, but two - both Janelle and Megan's middle names are Elizabeth, and Koh means island in Thailand, where they handcraft all their cotton and silk scarves. Every collection is named after a beach or island in Thailand and feature a range of weights for wearing in several seasons. Elizabeth Koh is committed to improving the communities where their products are made, so 10% of proceeds are donated to SOS Children's Villages in Thailand. Not only will you help feed others by buying a scarf this holiday season, you'll al...
