Handmade Trove: Ombre Pink Scarf by Smiles by JEM

Think Pink Scarf by Smiles by JEMLast weekend, I adorned myself from head to toe in pink for a breast cancer awareness 5K in Delaware. That's not an exaggeration - I wanted to show off my new bright pink scarf from Smiles by JEM, but it was too warm in the morning to wear around my neck, so I tied it into a headband instead! By afternoon, it was even hotter (did I mention I got sunburned in OCTOBER?!) so I tied it around my waist instead. I'm impressed that the scarf was versatile enough for me to wear in gorgeous 80-degree weather.

Think Pink Scarf by Smiles by JEMThe temperature has dropped 15 degrees in the last few days and I'm ready to wear it around my neck like the model to the left. Isn't it cool how the colors fade from flamenco pink to light pink in an ombré style? The pink cotton scarf is handwoven and measures measures 17" x 70."

Janelle and her partner Megan live in Ventura County, CA but travel to Thailand to make and design all scarves. In fact, they just flew there this week! But don't dismay, their shop is still open. Use coupon code "THINKPINK" during checkout before October 31, 2013 to receive 25% off any order.

Disclaimer: I received this free scarf as a thank you gift for hosting a giveaway. If you think your handmade creations would harmonize with my whimsical ramblings, learn how to sponsor a giveaway here.

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

Handmade Giveaway: Scarf from Elizabeth Koh

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Susana Silva for submitting the randomly-chosen 392nd entry. Normal people go to the beach in the summer, but I prefer autumn when it's more peaceful. The weather may be chilly, but that's why scarves come in handy! Not to mention that they're also a fun fashion accessory. One winner will get to choose any scarf under $40 from Elizabeth Koh to heat up an outfit. Elizabeth Koh is not one person, but two - both Janelle and Megan's middle names are Elizabeth, and Koh means island in Thailand, where they handcraft all their cotton and silk scarves. Every collection is named after a beach or island in Thailand and feature a range of weights for wearing in several seasons. Elizabeth Koh is committed to improving the communities where their products are made, so 10% of proceeds are donated to SOS Children's Villages in Thailand. Not only will you help feed others by buying a scarf this holiday season, you'll al...
