Manicure Monday: Shooting Star Nail Art by Kiss

New Years Eve Nail Art

New Year's Eve is a time to celebrate hope of a brighter life. I'm beginning the year by trying a shiny new brand of nail strips! My mom bought me a starry design by Kiss: Nail Dress, Ultimate Nail Fashion for Christmas. The package came with a nail file and 40 nail strips. Half are cut for French Tips, so you'll be seeing similar shooting star nail art from me in the future. The strips were super easy to apply - all I had to do was pick a sticker that fit the nail the best, smooth it away from center and trim the excess away. According to the box, they last up to a week. I've only had them on a few hours and wonder how wearing Kiss' nail strips will compare to the others I've tried, Jamberry Nails shields, L'Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Lingerie stickers and Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail strips.

Want to be a guest blogger for my Manicure Monday when I don't have new nails of my own to show off? Please contact me using the form on my contact page if you're interested in a free feature. Or if you've done a New Year's Eve manicure in the past, comment with the link and I'll add it to my featured finds below.

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

Handmade Giveaway: Scarf from Elizabeth Koh

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Susana Silva for submitting the randomly-chosen 392nd entry. Normal people go to the beach in the summer, but I prefer autumn when it's more peaceful. The weather may be chilly, but that's why scarves come in handy! Not to mention that they're also a fun fashion accessory. One winner will get to choose any scarf under $40 from Elizabeth Koh to heat up an outfit. Elizabeth Koh is not one person, but two - both Janelle and Megan's middle names are Elizabeth, and Koh means island in Thailand, where they handcraft all their cotton and silk scarves. Every collection is named after a beach or island in Thailand and feature a range of weights for wearing in several seasons. Elizabeth Koh is committed to improving the communities where their products are made, so 10% of proceeds are donated to SOS Children's Villages in Thailand. Not only will you help feed others by buying a scarf this holiday season, you'll al...
