Mitch the Mushroom Drawing

Remember Mitch, my adopted felted mushroom sculpture ? I was cheerfully chosen to give his creator, Shana of Woodland Whimsy , a gift for this year's Fantasy Artists of Etsy team's Solstice Swap . After perusing her list of likes, I picked out my purple unicorn bookmark , steampunk unicorn magnet and fairy card to send. But I heard Mitch clearing his throat and knew he had a more creative gift idea in mind. He posed prettily as I drew him playing hide and seek in a patch of orange fungi. He was about as successful at blending in as I was at following the poem rules when writing a cute limerick. There once was a mushroom named Mitch, Shaped from felt rather than stitch. He liked to hide in fungi, But his eyes shone the lie. That silly shroom didn't mind the hitch! Mushroom drawing is inked with black Sakura Pigma Micron Pens and colored with Prismacolor pencils onto ACEO sized Strathmore Smooth Bristol Paper . Colored pencil fantasy art is linked at Sunday Sket...

FAE Solstice Swap Gift from Night Lily Design

Carapace waved her digital paintbrush wand again and organized the second annual holiday swap amongst the Fantasy Artists of Etsy that flutter frequently in our monthly team thread. You may still be tinged mossy green with envy from the gleaming glass sea treasures that Julie of Mermaiden Creations bestowed upon me last year, but just wait until you see what shimmied to my doorstep this time! Our swap partners are secret, so when Cara contacted me to ask for a high resolution image of my Winter Fairy Princess drawing on behalf of an unknown fae, my curiosity intensified threefold. The swappers that were participating have such a range of creative talents that I didn't have a clue who it could be or what it'd be used for. The wait for my gift to arrive was well worth it - look what danced from the graceful fingertips of Kimberly of Night Lily Design ! Isn't it the most whimsical bag you've ever seen? The shape is awesome - it'll certainly shield my possessions we...

FAE Solstice Swap Gift from Mermaiden Creations

Craftster.org bit me with its swapping bug back in 2005. Although I had delirious fun crafting and acquiring several amazing handmade items, after a disappearing partner or two and life making its random demands, the virus eventually lay dormant. It wasn't until the marvelous Carapace suggested a holiday swap between the chatty FAE of the Fantasy Artists of Etsy street team monthly thread that the fever flared up again! I was given MissGnomer to shower with fairy goodness! After reading her favorite colors, I gathered up several products featuring every drawing I'd ever done in pink or purple. I also dusted off my knitting needles and made her a hip belt and cell phone cozy. Then I sent the package fluttering to Florida and flew off to Arizona. When I got back from gallivanting around in the desert, the most splendid treasures from the sea were waiting to welcome me home. I have been dazzled by quite a few items dreamed to life by Julie of Mermaiden Creations . Her eclectic...
