WW: Inside WWII Observation Tower at Fort Miles

"Do not allow to slip away from you freedoms the people who came before you won with such hard knocks." - D. H. Lawrence I took this spiral shot from the bottom of the #7 observation tower at Cape Henlopen State Park after my mom and I climbed it a few weeks ago. The fire control tower was built at Fort Miles to spot enemy ships during World War II, thus I thought it appropriate to share before Memorial Day.

WW: Rembrandt's Favorite Tulip

"Choose only one master - Nature." - Rembrandt This bicolor tulip really does look like an artist brushed its white petals with purple paint strokes, doesn't it? No wonder the type of tulip is titled "Rembrandt's Favorite."

WW: Boston Tulips at Lewes Tulip Festival

"Like tulip-beds of different shape and dyes, Bending beneath the invisible west-wind’s sighs." - Excerpt from Lalla Rookh by Thomas Moore I saw so many different types of tulips at the Lewes Tulip Festival earlier in April that I wasn't sure which flower photo to share first. Then the Boston Marathon raced into the news this week and made my decision easy, as these gorgeous red and yellow tulips are named after the city.

WW: Lewes Wind Turbine in Winter

"And finally Winter, with its bitin', whinin' wind, and all the land will be mantled with snow." - Roy Bean I took a freeze frame of UD's wind turbine from Irish Eyes' deck, overlooking the icy Lewes-Rehoboth canal. Fortunately, a happy hour beer was only steps inside to warm me up. Flutter to my Wordless Wednesday Directory for a list of blogs that regularly host WW Linky Parties. WW: Lewes Dragon Boat Festival

"Hark, now hear the sailors cry Smell the sea and feel the sky Let your soul and spirit fly" - Into The Mystic by Van Morrison Lewes, Delaware had its first (and hopefully annual) Dragon Boat Festival on September 15, 2013! Several of my coworkers paddled for the Cape Gazette Flood Tides team. I stopped by Lewes Canalfront Park just in time to see them smoke the competition in Heat 13. After racing two more heats later in the day, they came in 8th place out of 21 dragon boat teams. Flutter to my Wordless Wednesday Directory for a list of blogs that regularly host WW Linky Parties.
