Flower Photo: Black-Eyed Susan Vine Plant

I bought a Black-Eyed Susan vine plant in the spring for the first time and didn't expect it to bloom this long into summer. Last week one yellow blossom crept all the way from its trellis to the window box to bask in the morning dew with the Noa Blue Legend Calibrachoa Hybrid flowers from Garden Shack Farm . Flower Photo: Yellow and Orange Zinnias

Every Wednesday night during the summer, Milton offers free concerts in Memorial Park. Last week, my friend Erin Ann Martin sponsored the band. (If you ever plan to move to Delaware, you should hire her as your realtor because she is one of the sweetest, hardest-working women I know.) Wanting to support her motivated me to actually walk down to see 33 1/3 play, instead of curling up on my couch after work. Of course, I got distracted by taking flower photos along the way and was fashionably late. I was especially taken with the colorful zinnias in front of a historic house. Photo: Yellow Magnolia Tree Blossoms in DC

The pink magnolia blossoms photo I shared last week may have been my favorite flowers during my trip to Washington D.C., but this yellow magnolia tree bloomed a close second! I celebrate nature daily, but hope those souls that don't make a special effort today to stop and smell the magnolias for Earth Day.

Yellow Daffodil Flower Drawing

When life hands you lemons ... make Strawberry Lemonade Punch color schemed artwork for the Summer of Color challenge! Due to a busy schedule (especially on Saturday, as I went to a friend's birthday lunch, came home to bake caramel banana cake with homemade honey-cinnamon frosting and then whisked the dessert away to a girl's night-in party), it took me a little longer than usual to complete this week's ice cream flavor theme. I drew a daffodil, a flower known for its sunny shades of yellow. I was originally going to strictly stick to the color palette and use different shades of pink for the background. But all that brightness begged for the contrast of a dark green. Daffodil flower art is drawn entirely with Prismacolor pencils . I've used White, Canary Yellow, Sand, Goldenrod and Bronze pencils to color the petals and Deco Pink, Pink and Dark Green pencils to color the swirly background. Drawing is on Strathmore Bristol Vellum Paper , hand cut to approximately...
