WW: Zombie Movie Night at Milton Theatre

Field Reporter: Are they slow-moving, chief? Sheriff McClelland: Yeah, they're dead. They're all messed up. - Night of the Living Dead (1968) When my parents and I found out that the Milton Theatre was playing the original "Night of the Living Dead" movie and zombies got a discount on tickets, we heartily hacked old clothes into zombie costumes. Zombie movie night was thrilling! In addition to watching a black and white movie I hadn't seen before, there were zombies roaming the aisles and startling humans like a haunted house. The historic theater in Delaware recently reanimated after years of being closed, thus providing the perfect atmosphere for a zombie apocalypse. I hope they'll host many more themed movie nights for me to stagger to in the future.

Zombie and the Brain Drawing

"Hey jerk!" she yelled, banging on the front door. "Just because you moved out on your own doesn't mean you can ignore your family. Mom is worried sick about -" She cut off as the door creaked open. Her brother and his new roommates were so irresponsible. This wasn't the safest neighborhood to leave a house unlocked. Not like the boys had much worth stealing. She stepped inside and locked the door behind her. "Brian!" she called. She could hear gun fire spitting out of a television in the back bedroom. "Is that why you haven't returned mom's calls? You're too busy playing another House of the Dead marathon to put down the controller and pick up the phone! You better be wearing more than boxers because I'm coming back!" She strode through the messy living room, crunching over a bag of spilled potato chips and glowering at an overturned two-liter of soda. No way those slobs were ever going to get their security deposit back ...

Work In Progress: Zombie and The Brain Drawing

A cold dragged me through last week, but I'm almost back to human. My newest sketch, however, is not. I can't seem to get my mind off zombies, thanks to both Halloween and the Walking Dead season two premiere attacking soon. So here's my first attempt at drawing a zombie! Yes, he's wearing an Animaniacs t-shirt of The Brain - my sense of humor is that nerdy. Zombie pencil sketch is inked with black Sakura Pigma Micron Pens onto ACEO sized Strathmore Smooth Bristol Paper and soon to be devoured in Prismacolor pencils . Stagger over to Sunday Sketches to see more art by creative souls.

Friday Finds, Walking Dead Style: Zombie Costumes

Zombies have been a favorite Halloween costume option and horror movie subject for years, but have eaten their way even higher on the pop culture food chain recently. Many humans are excited for the fall television show premieres in September, but I'm waiting with bated breath for season two of Walking Dead to stagger back to AMC on October 16. It sucks brain matter that I didn't win their walk-on role sweepstakes last year - how wicked would it have been to have a professional make-up artist turn me into a zombie?! However, not all hope is lost for those that want to dress up as animated corpses. Feast your eyes on the sick zombie costumes available on Etsy! 1.
