"While the river of life glides along smoothly, it remains the same river; only the landscape on either bank seems to change."
- Max Müller
My dad's boss rented the River Queen for a dinner cruise down the Choptank River in appreciation of his employees and I got to devour the experience with them! Another boat left the Suicide Bridge Restaurant marina just before ours did, as shown in the first picture. Both boats are reproductions of authentic 80-foot turn-of-the-century paddle wheelers. Aren't the wheels amazing? I took a quick wheel video if you'd like to see them in action.
We were worried that a storm might cut the trip short, but the sun broke through the clouds just in time to give us a stunning sunset. Its bold light reflected through my dad's sunglasses in his silhouette shot. But he doesn't need real rose-colored glasses to make the memory more beautiful - the cruise couldn't have been better!
I like the photos especially the last one ;-)

Your dad must be a gem. It was sweet of him to take you along.
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful shot of your dad and the sunset! Glad you got to go!
ReplyDeleteRomantische aufnahmen von einem schönen Ausflug.
ReplyDeleteSolche Schiffe sind bei uns recht selten !
The river and the decorations looks like a fairytale movie set! So pretty! #ww
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! We have a riverboat that does the dinner cruise thing. I may have to swing by the river on evening to catch a few shots. Thanks for the photo inspiration. Happy #WW!
ReplyDeleteI'd love that too, those big paddle boats are nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of your excursion, especially the last two. It looks so relaxing. Enjoy the rest of your week.
ReplyDeleteI love the riverboats, I hope one day to board one. I love the bottom photo, the light of the evening is wonderful, looks like a postcard!!
ReplyDeletePlease join me to share you #WW post!
I would love to go on a riverboat cruise with dinner. We went on a short riverboat ride before, but it didn't include a dinner. That would be fun! Love your photos!
ReplyDeleteOh lovely!!! This makes me so homesick. My hometown does Sunset and Dinner cruises along the 1000 Islands here in Canada. It's so beautiful and such a wonderful way to spend an evening. The boats are paddle boats too -- so amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow FUN! Our kids would love it!
ReplyDeleteWow. Looks like a fun experience.
ReplyDeleteI really love the 3ed shot
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty shots - thanks for sharing! :)

I have always loved riverboats . There is just something so nostalgic and classic about them! I would love for you to join my WW.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Looks like you had a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome! Though it seems like a terrible name for a restaurant, lol! I'm going on my annual crabbing trip with my Dad & sister this Friday- I'll be sure to take and share photos on the water!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! We went on a historical paddle boat about four years ago. It was really fun! The crew was even dressed in period costumes and they sang songs and played a pipe organ. That sunset looks amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun adventure! I'd do it.
