Athena's Armoury 3-Day for the Cure Raffle

Janine of Athena's Armoury, a dear and talented fellow Fantasy Artist of Etsy, has embarked on quite a noble journey - she'll be walking 60 miles in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure event to fight breast cancer. In addition to training to achieve such a feat, she must fundraise $2,300 for the cause. Janine has invoked her inner warrior and is already 67% of the way to that goal! She's designing a Pink Warrior Chain Maille Collection using pink anodized aluminum jump rings donated from Blue Buddha Boutique. She's also organized a handmade raffle, of which I am proud to be a part of.

I donated a 4x5" print, double matted to 5x7", of my breast cancer awareness fairy, Aware. For those not familiar with this piece, it's inspired by my mom, a survivor of more than 10 years. The lump was discovered in her breast back in 1994, but was misdiagnosed as benign until six months later. I was in 7th grade at the time, and have never been more scared in my life. The most vivid memory I have of that time isn't waiting in the hospital or helping with the drainage tube - it was when she had to cut her hair because of the chemo. Her hair had flowed to her knees the entire 13 years I'd known her and seeing her without it was a big change. I can't even begin to imagine how tough it was for her (and so many others) to recover from cancer. There are so many incredibly strong women out there that deserve our support.

For a chance to win my print, all you need to do is donate $5 for 1 ticket, $10 for 3, $20 for 7, or $50 for 20 tickets before 11:59pm EST on Thursday, May 13, 2010. Below are a peek at all the other amazing handmade items you could win. Visit the Athena's Armoury blog - 3 Day for the Cure Raffle to read the prize descriptions, and 3 Day for the Cure Raffle Information and Rules to find out how to purchase tickets.

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

Giveaway: Blue Mushroom Sculpture by Woodland Whimsy

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to the randomly chosen 16th commenter, Wendy Hatton! Winter has barely begun, and I'm already dreaming of warm weather and greener grass. If you're feeling the same, don't despair - you could be the one to win this rare blue mushroom that won't decay or freeze, no matter the season. Meet Crystal, an adorable ooak needle felted mushroom by Shana of Woodland Whimsy . The white portions of Crystal's exterior are sheep's wool and the blue portions are hand dyed alpaca fiber. Her skeleton is needle felted fiber fill. I have no skills in creating three dimensional art, so the sculptures and art dolls by my fellow Fantasy Artists of Etsy amaze me. Although Shana has been crafting practically her whole life, needle felting is a new technique to her. Last year her mom bought alpacas and their fleece encouraged her to learn how to felt. Needle felting is a process that uses a special barbed needle to mesh the fibers to...
