Friday Finds, Elevated Style: Autumn in the Mountains

West Virginia MountainsI am officially on vacation! I can barely contain my excitement - are my toes still touching the ground? *fans a cloud away from head*

Justin and I are heading to his aunt's cabin in West Virginia this weekend. Considering that Delaware is mostly flat and lies on a coastal plain, the sight of mountains always astonishes me. They're so immense and stunningly beautiful. And I get to reside on one for an entire week! The photograph to the right was taken on our last visit, a week shy of two years ago.

October is such a lovely time to revel in the changing landscape, as leaves blend from green to yellow, orange and red. We can drive for miles and be surrounded by trees instead of corn fields, nature-made wonders instead of man-made.

But that experience is still hours away, so today I took a stroll through the handmade mountains of Etsy. Autumn is breathtaking, isn't it?

  4. Oh, so pretty...

I love the warm blending of the natural autumn palette, but those more striking reds are delightful. I think I feel a new love-affair coming on as far as color goes...

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

Handmade Giveaway: Scarf from Elizabeth Koh

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Susana Silva for submitting the randomly-chosen 392nd entry. Normal people go to the beach in the summer, but I prefer autumn when it's more peaceful. The weather may be chilly, but that's why scarves come in handy! Not to mention that they're also a fun fashion accessory. One winner will get to choose any scarf under $40 from Elizabeth Koh to heat up an outfit. Elizabeth Koh is not one person, but two - both Janelle and Megan's middle names are Elizabeth, and Koh means island in Thailand, where they handcraft all their cotton and silk scarves. Every collection is named after a beach or island in Thailand and feature a range of weights for wearing in several seasons. Elizabeth Koh is committed to improving the communities where their products are made, so 10% of proceeds are donated to SOS Children's Villages in Thailand. Not only will you help feed others by buying a scarf this holiday season, you'll al...
