Wordless Wednesday: Wild Turkey Hen

Wild Turkey Hen
"It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit."
- Robert Louis Stevenson

  1. Love that quote! The hen turkey looks like she is in a serious hurry to get into the cover of those trees. Great image. :)

  2. I am surprised she is by herself? Hubby saw a few of ours running up the road last week. But I haven't seen any since last time hubby snapped their photos in our yard. I hope they are hiding well until Thanksgiving is over! hahaha! (I would never eat one that has been feeding in my yard... but some people do & even raise them)

  5. These birds are cool. I used to live in a place where flocks of them would walk down the street and cruise right through my yard.

  6. GrammyMouseTails - don't worry, there were four other turkeys straggling behind her. I saw them while on vacation in Paw Paw, West Virginia.

  11. We used to have some running around our suburban neighborhood in Atlanta. Some guy raised them. They would jump on the hood of my car if you didn't drive by fast enough!

  16. That's a site you don't see everyday! My oldest didn't believe turkeys flew, so we had to show him videos on YouTube.
