Handmade Trove: Mermaid Bead by Beadfreaky

Mermaid Ornament with Ceramic Bead by BeadfreakyMermaid ornaments have been slowly swimming into my life since Mermaiden Creations drew my name for a Solstice Swap three years ago. Next Christmas, I am determined to display them properly on a purely pirate-themed tree. That means I must find more treasure to string upon branches.

I didn't have to search far with my spyglass for the first. Christine of Beadfreaky sent me a marvelous mermaid bead, handpainted with a waterproof denim glaze. All of her ceramic beads are high-fired for durability.

I strung her stoneware bead from wire and embellished it with a seashell charm and beads that remind me of fish net. I've made many Christmas ornaments for gifts, but this is the first I've ever designed for myself. Now I'm flipping my fin for more!

Disclaimer: I received this free bead as a thank you gift for hosting a jewelry giveaway. If you think your handmade creations would harmonize with my whimsical ramblings, learn how to sponsor a giveaway here.

Makeup Giveaway: All Natural Mineral Cosmetics by Madison Street Beauty

EDIT: Giveaway is officially closed. Congratulations to Rita Szlovencsák for submitting the randomly chosen 57th entry. Perhaps it's the hot weather and the drought in Delaware, but I have been daydreaming about being a mermaid. That's why I gleamed to discover the Etsy Blog's Mermaid Makeup Tutorial when looking through the list of articles where my new giveaway sponsor's products have shimmered. Madison Street Beauty has dozens of magnificent eye shadow colors that could enhance the sexy siren in any creature. One lucky winner will even get to choose five full size eye shadows, as well as a foundation, a setting powder and a blush or bronzer sample for free. Amethyst, an opaque vegan eyeshadow of medium purple, would be my first pick, fins down. Look at those sparkles! If choosing only five colors is too difficult, why not try some natural samples first? The owners, Bridget and Rhys, are currently celebrating their one year Etsyversary and offering an astonish...

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Susana Silva for submitting the randomly-chosen 392nd entry. Normal people go to the beach in the summer, but I prefer autumn when it's more peaceful. The weather may be chilly, but that's why scarves come in handy! Not to mention that they're also a fun fashion accessory. One winner will get to choose any scarf under $40 from Elizabeth Koh to heat up an outfit. Elizabeth Koh is not one person, but two - both Janelle and Megan's middle names are Elizabeth, and Koh means island in Thailand, where they handcraft all their cotton and silk scarves. Every collection is named after a beach or island in Thailand and feature a range of weights for wearing in several seasons. Elizabeth Koh is committed to improving the communities where their products are made, so 10% of proceeds are donated to SOS Children's Villages in Thailand. Not only will you help feed others by buying a scarf this holiday season, you'll al...

Nature lovers will love the simplicity of the sole leaf and fashionistas will appreciate the boldness of the red pops of color. Jessica creates wickedly sweet accessories to adorn neck and ears. She abides by a simple philosophy - delight the customer with handmade pieces. She doesn't list anything in her online store that she wouldn't be proud to wear herself. Nor does she believe in putting high price tags on her work. All of her beautiful necklaces and earrings are almost too affordable, starting at only $5! How To Enter The Giveaway Giveaway is open worldwide. I will be pulling a number from my random.o...
