I drew the columbine art I use as my Flower Friday button before I ever met anything in the Aquilegia genus. I picked the reference photo through a Google search simply because the flower had the color combination needed for a sketch challenge. Now, five years later, I've captured plenty of columbines with my own camera, should I ever want to draw one again. These pretty petals are part of the McKana Group at Longwood Gardens. My Flower Friday hop is a late bloomer again. Ogre and I have been busy digging into our dream of opening a brick and mortar shop. Invasive species keep crawling the walls to slow us down, but we are not giving up. Sooner or later we will have a space to display comics, collectibles and art, including mine! But we need to grow more money to do so. Thus I am in the process of adding all of my drawings, such as Pink and Yellow Columbine , to Fine Art America. The print-on-demand company has planted several new products since I joined a year ago, including zippered pouches as shown above. Cherry tree petals are painting the pavement pink in Delaware now, but I can't resist sharing one more photo from when they were first blooming a couple weeks ago. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me post another flower cluster from this tree. I went walking with my friend Maddy after work and couldn't leave her yard without meeting it, despite already taking dozens of photos of the same type of Kwanzan tree at the office earlier that day. A white rabbit made me late for a very important date! We rescued a cistena plum tree from Lowe's clearance section last fall. It's barely bigger than a stick, so I was blown away to see blossoms already on it this week. Literally - it was quite windy, but I grabbed my camera anyway. Aren't the buds adorable?
